Winner of Art For Hope Contest
In July of 2020, Dr. S. L. Yang’s piece “Panda Hug” was selected as one of four winners of the Art For Hope contest hosted by Athena Project Arts.
Art For Hope was created to provide an opportunity for artists to uplift those most vulnerable to COVID-19. The winning artwork was printed on postcards and sent to residents and employees of assisted living communities around the Denver metro area to give hope and encouragement.
Over 40 submissions were received from over 20 Colorado artists. Winners were chosen by a team of local artists including Carina Bañuelos-Harrison, Sylvia Montero, Tessa Crisman, Rachel Bayse of Arts Students League of Denver, and Cecily Cullen of Metropolitan State University Center for Visual Arts.
Dr. S. L. Yang received a large aluminum print of “Panda Hug” as a part of her winning package. The aluminum print was produced by Denver’s Print Pointe.
What a blessing and honor to be able to use art to bring hope and encouragement to others!
